Itinerary

  • We meet you at Casablanca Mohammed V airport and take you to your hotel. Depending on when you land there is time to visit the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest in the world and built out over the Atlantic, and to walk the Corniche before your first dinner in Morocco.
  • After breakfast we drive to Rabat: the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, the Kasbah of the Oudayas and the views over the Bouregreg river.
The afternoon is free for the medina and the quieter streets of the capital. Overnight in Rabat.
  • Today takes you up through the Rif Mountains to the blue pearl of Morocco.
The afternoon is for wandering Chefchaouen’s blue streets, its squares, the artisan shops and the cafes. Overnight in Chefchaouen.
  • We leave Chefchaouen for the Roman city of Volubilis, remarkably well preserved, and go on to Meknes — one of the four imperial cities — for the Bab Mansour gate, El Hedim square and the royal granaries.
In the afternoon we continue to Fes. Overnight in Fes.
  • A local guide collects you from the hotel for a day in Morocco’s oldest imperial city: the UNESCO-listed medina, the Al Quaraouiyine university, the Chouara tanneries, the artisan quarters, the madrasas and the souks. Overnight in Fes.
  • We travel through the Middle Atlas, stopping in Ifrane — often called the Switzerland of Morocco — and in the cedar forest, home to the Barbary macaques.
We carry on through the mountains to Midelt, known for its apple trees. Dinner and overnight in Midelt.
  • South through mountain country and the Ziz Valley with its palm groves, then Erfoud, which is known for its fossils.
At Merzouga a camel caravan takes you across the dunes of Erg Chebbi at sunset, and the evening is spent around a fire with Berber music under a full sky. Dinner and overnight in a luxury Sahara camp.
  • An early start for the sunrise. After breakfast we visit nomadic families and the village of Khamlia, and there is time for quad biking or sandboarding if you want it.
Another evening in the Sahara. Dinner and overnight in the luxury camp.
  • We leave the desert for the Todra Gorge, where the canyon walls close right in, and follow the road of palm groves to the Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight in the Dades Valley.
  • Through the Valley of Roses and the Skoura oasis — the valley of a thousand kasbahs — and on to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert and home to the film studios. Overnight in Ouarzazate.
  • We visit the kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO site and a location for a long list of films, then cross the High Atlas by the Tizi n’Tichka pass and come down into Marrakech. Overnight in Marrakech.
  • A local guide takes you through Marrakech: the Koutoubia, the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the souks and the Jemaa el-Fna, which fills with storytellers, musicians and food stalls as the evening comes on. Overnight in Marrakech.
  • A free day to take the city at your own pace. A hot-air balloon flight, a cooking class, a hammam and spa, or the Majorelle Garden and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum are all options. Overnight in Marrakech.
  • South to Agadir, Morocco’s main seaside resort, with the afternoon for the beach, the marina or the promenade above the Atlantic. Overnight in Agadir.
  • An easy day in Agadir: the beach, or an optional run out to Paradise Valley for its natural pools and palm groves. Overnight in Agadir.
  • North along the coast to Essaouira, stopping where the landscape and the Berber villages are worth it.
The afternoon is for the UNESCO-listed medina, the fishing port, the artisan workshops and the beach. Overnight in Essaouira.
  • A full day at leisure in one of the most likeable towns on the coast: the galleries and boutiques, fresh seafood above the harbour, or simply the Atlantic. Overnight in Essaouira.
  • We continue north and stop at El Jadida for the Portuguese Cistern, the UNESCO-listed fortress and the old streets, with lunch somewhere local.
Later we carry on to Casablanca. Overnight in Casablanca.
  • A full day in Casablanca: the modern districts, the shops, the cafes, or the Hassan II Mosque again if you want a second look. Overnight in Casablanca.
  • After breakfast we take you to Casablanca Mohammed V airport for your flight home.
