Day Trips From Marrakech

Short trips out of the red city and back the same day — the Atlas valleys, the waterfalls of the Grand Atlas, the kasbahs beyond the Tizi n’Tichka pass and the Atlantic coast at Essaouira. Each one is private, with your own driver, and can be reshaped around what you want to see.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Ourika for mountain scenery and a guided walk in a Berber village, Ouzoud for the waterfalls, Essaouira for the Atlantic ramparts and the fishing port, and Ouarzazate for the kasbahs and the film studios.

All of them start early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech, and return to Marrakech the same day.

Hotel or riad pick-up and drop-off and an air-conditioned vehicle with a professional driver-guide. The Ourika trip also includes a one-hour guided walk with a local guide and lunch in a traditional restaurant. Tips and personal expenses are not included, and entrance fees to the monuments are extra on the Ouarzazate trip.

Yes. Your own vehicle and your own driver-guide, so you can stop where you like and stay as long as you want.

Ourika is the closest at about an hour, Ouzoud around two and a half hours, and Essaouira and Ouarzazate roughly three to four hours each way.

Good walking shoes, sunscreen and a hat. The Ourika valley sits higher than Marrakech and is noticeably cooler, so bring a layer even in summer.
