Frequently asked questions
Which day trip should I choose?
Ourika for mountain scenery and a guided walk in a Berber village, Ouzoud for the waterfalls, Essaouira for the Atlantic ramparts and the fishing port, and Ouarzazate for the kasbahs and the film studios.
What time do day trips start and finish?
All of them start early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech, and return to Marrakech the same day.
What is included on a day trip?
Hotel or riad pick-up and drop-off and an air-conditioned vehicle with a professional driver-guide. The Ourika trip also includes a one-hour guided walk with a local guide and lunch in a traditional restaurant. Tips and personal expenses are not included, and entrance fees to the monuments are extra on the Ouarzazate trip.
Are day trips private?
Yes. Your own vehicle and your own driver-guide, so you can stop where you like and stay as long as you want.
How far is each trip from Marrakech?
Ourika is the closest at about an hour, Ouzoud around two and a half hours, and Essaouira and Ouarzazate roughly three to four hours each way.
What should I bring?
Good walking shoes, sunscreen and a hat. The Ourika valley sits higher than Marrakech and is noticeably cooler, so bring a layer even in summer.
