I have travelled several times to the Erg Chebbi desert in Eastern Morocco and having fallen in love with the place and its people, I find that no matter which part of the world I am in, my thoughts soon return to the desert and I yearn to return. This is in no small part due to Get Morocco Tours' Ali Ouyahya, who has been an exceptional host and guide during each of my visits, but more importantly has become a dear friend. Ali organised and prepared all of my accommodation and excursions, including treks through the desert with multiple overnight stops at different nomad camps; 4x4 journeys through the black desert and visits to the surrounding towns. Throughout all of this, Ali displayed a deep and passionate knowledge of his own Berber culture and the desert itself. I have so many memories that I will cherish for life from my time in the Sahara- sitting beneath the dunes huddled around a fire, the milky way stretched across the sky above, listening to the music of the Berbers and peppering Ali with questions about the Berber way of life is one such memory. I cannot recommend highly enough Ali Ouyahya and Get Morocco Tours.
